Horizons K-8 was one of a few schools that was selected to pilot Google Expeditions Pioneer Program. This educational tool allows students to experience collections, scenes or virtual reality panoramas — 360° photospheres, 3D images and video — annotated with details, highlights, and questions that make them easy to integrate into curriculum already used in schools. In the time we had to use this technology we were able to a trip to the Roman Colosseum, the Serengeti, Great Barrier Reef, the moon's surface, the human circulatory system, the human eye, inside a variety of animals, Leonardo da Vinci's inventions. and much more. Our hopes are two use this tool and integrate it into our learning experiences. We spent our morning attending the Discovery Concert 2018 and exploring orchestral music in a fun, interactive format featuring nationally-acclaimed Music Director Michael Butterman. This year's Reach for the Stars program offered an exciting space exploration theme in honor of NASA’s – and the Boulder Phil’s – 60th anniversary. The program explored concepts of history, courage and innovation, while featuring some of the very best and most engaging orchestral music ever written! The 50-minute multimedia concert was presented at the historic Macky Auditorium on the CU campus.
